The Historic Donald Farmstead
Tour
The Donald Farmhouse
The house was constructed in 1858 by the first generation of Donalds to live in the house. The original house was the 28X24 section towards the road. The appearance is virtually unchanged since it was constructed. The two sections to the north were added between 1890 and 1892. For some period of time in the early 1900ís a hired man and his family lived in the added section while the Donald family lived in the original house. When the Donalds, third and forth generations, moved into Madison in 1912 the hired man and family took over the whole house.
The house is the principal building on the farm that qualified the property for selection to the National Register of Historic Places under the architectural selection
