Tim's "Service" Station
The Webmaster's Corner of the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society Web Site

White Pass Box BoxcarHowdy Pard!

Welcome to the Webmaster's corner of the Mt. Horeb Area Historical Society Web Site. Since being a young shaver, I have been fascinated with the prose of Robert Service, the "Bard of the Yukon". His wit and wisdom transports his readers back in history, to the excitement of a gold rush, the adventure of the wilderness and to a spirit of wanderlust.

Of course this site cannot replace the experience of reading Robert Service from a book. If you enjoy a great read by all means BUY A BOOK! Robert's novels are all out of print but by scouring used book markets and E-bay auctions they can be found. Many books of Service's verse and three biographies are still in print and may be ordered in Mt. Horeb from John Stowe at Prairie Book Shop, 608-437-4118.

Below you will find links to my favorite poems, and some personal thoughts about the verse. You also will find a link to a personal travelogue which I traveled to the Service Road, to where he found so much inspiration for his writings.
Glad I can be of be of "Service".
